The AFM is seeking musicians... 05/14/2009

So we're looking for more music at the market. Over the past year we've had some great old-timey groups, fiddlers, guitarists, and other solo acts - it's always a good time, great people, and lucrative - including a gift-basket of fresh produce donated from our farmers... if you're interested in playing at the market, give Max a call at 781 771 8194 to get details. Gig.

Mother's Day Special from Chase Hill Farm... 05/06/2009

News from Jeannette... "This week we'll have a special $1 per pound off all roasts from Chase Hill Farm, including beef and pork roasts. Cook a roast for your Mother's Day dinner! Also, stop by the CHF table and ask about joining the Grassfed Ground Beef Club"

A roast, savings, and a grassfed beef club? What more could a mother ask for?

Peace in this house?

Best places to park for the market... 05/06/2009

In my humble opinion. There's a few more or less secret spots about. A good place to look is the lot behind the Lone Wolf, and behind the Town Hall - if it's early enough that the brunch crowd has yet to stumble out of bed, there's a pretty good chance of finding a space. If you're going east on Main, it's the first, small right after Boltwood Ave. Another good bet is along S. Prospect Street, and there's access to a lot off of that as well - behind the Amherst Cinema, and another lot close to Amherst Coffee, also better early. There is also parking along Spring Street that will be open this year as the Lord Jeffery Inn is closed for who knows how long. That's the extent of my humble opinion so far - but we'll ask around. Perhaps gratuitously I'd like to add that the absolute best way to get to the market is to walk or ride a bike if possible...

Opening Day May 2nd 2009, with free cake 04/20/2009

This is from Marie at Little Pond Flower Farm:

The Amherst Farmers’ Market kicks off their season on Saturday, May 2.  To celebrate the Market’s opening day, and Amherst’s 250th birthday, Wheatberry, The Black Sheep, Henion Bakery and Atkins Farms are providing free birthday cake for all at the market.  This celebration coincides with the culmination of Amherst’s 250th birthday daffodil project.  Over 22,000 daffodils were planted last fall in the town center, and throughout neighborhoods of Amherst.

The Amherst Farmers’ Market has been in continuous operation for 36 years, making it among the longest running markets in the state - second only to Fanueil Hall in Boston.  It takes place every Saturday morning, 7:30-1:30, May 2 through November 21.  Voted the Valley’s Best Farmers’ Market, the market takes great pride in featuring the freshest locally grown organic vegetables, fruits, cut flowers, herbs, artisan breads, meats, eggs, cheese, yogurt, maple syrup, honey, plants, and much more. So come on out, support your local farmers, and celebrate Amherst’s birthday with the Amherst Farmers’ Market. We’ll see you there.

Chase Hill Farm featured in the Recorder... 04/20/2009

Our own lovely and talented Jeannette at Chase Hill Farm was featured in the Recorder the other day - they built a cheese cave, no joke. Here's the link: http://www.recorder.com/story.cfm?id_no=6016030 not sure why they put 'cave' in quotes, but whatever.

They also made a new website - chasehillfarm.com - who said all the good domains were taken?
