An Update from Lee and Deb at Chicken Feather Farm...

Happy Spring from Chicken Feather Farm!

We are happy to report that most of our plants weathered the winter undeterred by the wind and ice storms of last January.  The extra protection of snow was good news to all Hemerocallis, Coreopsis, Sedum, Epimedium and their friends in the plant community (not as welcome news to Deb and Lee and chickens and canines.)

We’re busy at the farm uncovering the propagation beds and enjoying the early flowers of Helleborus orientalis.  Today Lee potted dozens of gorgeous peonia, euphorbia, and papaver that are sure to be a major hit this summer.  (We’re sticking with Latin ‘cause that’s the way Lee is.)

Today was the dogs’ birthdays—Lilly is 12 and Rose is 3—so they entertained us non-stop by dropping tennis balls at our feet or in the wheelbarrows.  We must have needed the extra exercise required to toss them across the field for an easy retrieve.

We anticipate plenty of bloodroot, dwarf irises, and Spring ephemerals at early markets and are really looking forward to reconnecting with old gardening friends and meeting new ones at the Amherst Farmers’ Market.

Hi Lee & Deb! I am getting in touch because I want help making a garden bed in my front yard. Friends (Anne Williamson, Oriole Feschbach, Susie) say you are the best. Do you have time? I'll follow this message with a 'phone call Monday Nov. 1.

Thanks!

Hi Lee!

We are interested to learn if you can return to help us get our front flower bed in order. We spoke about that last November just before the snow flew.
