Opening Day May 2nd 2009, with free cake

The Amherst Farmers’ Market kicks off their season on Saturday, May 2.  To celebrate the Market’s opening day, and Amherst’s 250th birthday, Wheatberry, The Black Sheep, Henion Bakery and Atkins Farms are providing free birthday cake for all at the market.  This celebration coincides with the culmination of Amherst’s 250th birthday daffodil project.  Over 22,000 daffodils were planted last fall in the town center, and throughout neighborhoods of Amherst.

 

The Amherst Farmers’ Market has been in continuous operation for 36 years, making it among the longest running markets in the state - second only to Fanueil Hall in Boston.  It takes place every Saturday morning, 7:30-1:30, May 2 through November 21.  Voted the Valley’s Best Farmers’ Market, the market takes great pride in featuring the freshest locally grown organic vegetables, fruits, cut flowers, herbs, artisan breads, meats, eggs, cheese, yogurt, maple syrup, honey, plants, and much more.
